MAKE FRIENDS, BE KIND AND GIVE MORE

Welcome to the Women of Colour Brighton!

The Women of Colour Brighton group is a vibrant and growing network of over 1500 members in Brighton and beyond, run by passionate volunteers. Our lively private Facebook group is the go-to place for sharing resources and job opportunities. We are an amazing mix of women, from those new to Brighton to professionals like lawyers, CEOs, business owners, students, DJs, therapists, poets, and performers. We welcome mums, younger people and elders.  Our group can signpost you to info on family events, women’s health, refugee support and much more. We want to support you. We meet monthly to support, inspire, and connect on the last Monday of the month from 7pm at the Actors Brighton. If you’re a Black, brown, Latina, Asian, Arab, Mixed or Indigenous woman*, you’re in!

Every year, we throw a free Self-Love Festival for women of colour only. Expect amazing food, yoga, singing, dancing, poetry workshops and much more! all led by our members. Join our community and feel the love! *non-binary, gender queer and trans women of colour welcome.

  • 🧡 "The Women of Colour Self-Love Festival is the highlight of my year. Every time I come, I meet new people and reconnect with familiar faces. Being in a creative space with other people of colour makes me feel like I can truly express myself. It’s such a valuable and joyful experience."

  • 💜 "This festival is one of the best events of the year. It’s the one time I can connect with people who share similar experiences in a safe and welcoming space. Last year, I made friends here, and this year, I got to see them again. While others wait for Valentine's Day, I wait for the Women of Colour Self-Love Festival!"

  • 💛 "Thank you for organizing such an incredible event! The energy, the people, and the opportunities to connect have been amazing. The reception has been so positive—I honestly can’t even think of anything that could be improved. It’s just been a really good day."

  • 💖 "It’s beautiful to be in a friendly, safe space where everyone looks like me. The yoga this morning was so special—seeing a woman of colour leading the class made it even more powerful. This whole experience has been absolutely lovely."

  • ✨ "What an amazing day at the Women of Colour Self-Love Festival in Brighton! I started with yoga after rushing to get here on the train, but the whole day just flowed. I loved the writing workshop, the sari discussion on appropriation, and just being around people who understand me. I’ll definitely be back!"

  • 💃🏾 "I moved down from London years ago and often felt disconnected. But today reminded me why I love being part of this community. From the singing to the incredible Indian dance workshop, to the amazing food and the vibrant atmosphere—it’s been a dream. This is going on my calendar every year!"

  • 🌿 "This was my first Self-Love Festival, and I came in feeling anxious without knowing exactly why. But the warmth of this space reassured me immediately. The welcome from other women made me emotional in the best way. I even stepped out of my comfort zone in the poetry workshop—something I hadn’t planned on doing, but I’m so glad I did. The support here is incredible."

  • 🎶 "The healing singing workshop was magical. I met so many wonderful people, and the whole day was joyful and empowering. I feel so connected to other women now—I absolutely love it."

  • 🧡 "Brighton is very, very white. It’s refreshing and necessary to have spaces like this where we can connect, share experiences, and support one another. The Women of Colour Self-Love Festival is a hub for people who might not know where to find community. It needs to continue—it deserves all the funding!"

  • 🌸 "Pauline, thank you for forcing me to come! I had an amazing time—just being with other women, being myself, and forgetting about the daily struggles for a while. This festival gave me the time and space I needed. One love, and I can’t wait for next year!"

  • 🌍 "Thank you to the organizers for creating this space. As Black, Brown, Arab, and Women of Colour, we don’t get enough places where we feel truly seen. This festival is a reminder of how important these spaces are. We need more of them—so please, keep going!"

  • 🎭 "This festival has been full of life—singing, dancing, movement, creative writing, and deep reflection. All I can say is: more, more, more! We’re all coming back next year!"
