A community for women of colour, including non-binary people of colour.

MAKE FRIENDS, BE KIND AND GIVE MORE

Welcome to the Women of Colour Brighton!

The Women of Colour Brighton group is a vibrant and growing network of over 1500 members in Brighton and beyond, run by passionate volunteers. Our lively private Facebook group is the go-to place for sharing resources and job opportunities. We are an amazing mix of women, from those new to Brighton to professionals like lawyers, CEOs, business owners, students, DJs, therapists, poets, and performers. We welcome mums, younger people and elders.  Our group can signpost you to info on family events, women’s health, refugee support and much more. We want to support you. We meet monthly to support, inspire, and connect on the last Thursday (changing to the last Monday in 2025) of the month from 7pm at the Actors Brighton. If you’re a Black, brown, Asian, Arab, Mixed or Indigenous woman*, you’re in!

Every year, we throw a free Self-Love Festival for women of colour only. Expect amazing food, yoga, singing, dancing, poetry workshops and much more! all led by our members. Join our community and feel the love! *non-binary, gender queer and trans women of colour welcome.

Women of Colour Brighton Group is part of the Co-op Local Community Fund, to find out more about our project and to choose us as your cause, click here https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/88048

  • "The 2024 Self Love Day was so healing & inspiring - so many fantastic people came together to share. I was able to let go of so much grief I’d been carrying.

    A valued WoC Brighton member

  • "This is the only event provided in Brighton and Hove that I have felt the most safe, the most heard, and been able to meet more like-minded people. The need for it to be free is also integral"

    A valued WoC Brighton member

  • I have been on a complete high today after all the magnificent workshops with so many inspirational women that took place.

    Tanya White

  • I loved the event, thanks for all being so friendly

    Jen Ward

  • Thank you all for your advice and support. It means a lot to me and gave me so much hope! I was so hesitant to post and I’m so glad I did as it did help.

    Isabella

  • I Try to go to the meet-ups as it's always such a nurturing and supportive space

    Althea Wolfe

  • "There was such an incredible coming together of such talent, wisdom & generosity, I left feeling lighter & more inspired than I have done for quite a while."

    A valued WoC Brighton member

  • “This festival is truly one of the highlights of my year. Living in Brighton is great on many fronts, but the lack of diversity can be challenging and events like this really help me feel supported and more connected to the community. It's great for our mental health!”

Our flag-ship event is held each year in central Brighton, and attracts 100 women of colour from all over the region. We have so much fun with self-care, healing, meditation, yoga, poetry workshops and singing and much more. Come and connect and leave energised!
